I checked with Activity monitor what was going on with the RAM and noticed that Lightroom was using around 5GB and then Topaz another 1GB whilst working with the images so RAM was using around 7-7.5 of the 8GB available as other things were running in background (Firefox 0.5GB and other services etc.) I threw the most demanding images I had from my 61mp Sigma FP DNG files and processed no problem them converted to TIFF and exported to Topaz Denoise, Sharpen and Gigapixel and they didn't have any issues what so ever. Just tested out a borrowed base spec Macbook Air M1 8GB ram 256GB storage to see how the above apps work and to be honest I was shocked that they all worked fine and can't tell the difference with using my Mac Mini with twice the RAM. Currently use a Mac Mini M1 with 16GB Ram and have found that it works great with my PP workflow of Lightroom and Topaz AI modules (Denoise/Sharpen/Gigapixel).īeen thinking about a laptop to supplement my desktop for the times I'm mobile but always thought I needed 16GB ram minimum to work with the above software successfully.
